Sitges is a beautiful, full of life village with plenty of things to do. Different activities, such as competitions, meetings, conventions or sporting events  are being  hold here every month, that, in the end, come to consolidate as permanent part of the leisure and cultural offer in the city.

At the reception you can consult the events, some of which do not have a fixed date, taking place in the village during your stay.

However, there are some celebrations that take place every year among which we have the pleasure to stress the following:

THE CARNIVAL: of Sitges is one of the most famous Carnival celebrations in the world. It takes place usually in February and among its acts we can highlight:

EL ARRIBO: Is the arrival of His Majesty the Carnestoltes and takes place on Thursday before Lent.
LA RUA DE LA DISBAUXA: It is a parade of floats and takes place on Sunday.
LA RUA DE L’EXTERMINI: It is a repetition of Sunday’s parade but much more crowded. It takes place on Tuesday.
L’ENTERRAMENT DE LA SARDINA: It takes place on Wednesday. It consists on the burial of the Carnestoltes, that confirms the end of  the Carnival and the beginning of Lent.

THE HOLY WEEK takes place in the last week of Lent. It is a religious celebration commemorating the passion, death and resurrection of Christ.

THE ANNUAL VINTAGE CAR RALLYE BARCELONA-SITGES is : Barcelona – Sitges is a concentration and contest of vehicles manufactured before 1900 and until 1924, at which the winners are not the fastest, but the most original cars, drivers and escort, including the clothing and garments of the participants, who have to wear costumes of the nineteenth century. The rally begins in Barcelona and arrives to Sitges on Sunday noon.

SANT JORDI: April 23 is the day of Saint George, patron of Catalunya. The tradition is established that boys and girls offer each other a rose or a book and in any town you can find lots of colourful stalls in the streets selling roses and books.

CORPUS CHRISTI: The start of the celebration is difficult to precise, but it was in 1952 that the popular activity of decorating the streets with carpets of flowers became a contest between the different streets of the village. They would not only adorn the pavement but the balconies and terraces as well. This feast has been declared First National Festival of Artistic Interest and culminates in the procession of the Holy Sacrament, that is accompanied by giants, pubilles (local beauties) and the children that have made their First Communion during the year.

THE BLESSED VIRGIN OF EL VINYET: is the patroness of Sitges. This festivity is celebrated on the 5th of August in the area of the hermitage of El Vinyet with different acts that include a castle of fireworks at night.

THE FESTA MAJOR DE SANT BERTOMEU is an annual Festival celebrated every 23 and 24 of August. It is the Feast of the city and during these two days religious processions and parades will follow each other that combine religion with fun. On the 23rd at night there is a spectacular fireworks display.

THE WINE HARVEST FESTIVITY: takes place in the first half of September. It celebrates the end of the wine harvest. The most notable event is the first pressing of wine after which the local Pubilla will be weighed and get her weight in bottles of wine as a reward.

THE FEAST OF SANTA TECLA : is celebrated every 22 and 23 of August. It is the small Feast of the city. All the acts of the Festa Major of Sant Bertomeu will be repeated but, this time, the children will have an enhanced role. There is also a fireworks display that takes place on the 22nd at night.

THE INTERNATIONAL FANTASTIC FILM FESTIVAL: takes place during the first half of October. The Sitges Festival offers the public the best of the international fantastic film production
